    These Terms of Service and Privacy Policy apply to communications from the DoD Marrow Donor Program / Salute to Life, referred to below as “the Program,” “we,” “us,” or “our.”

    This page explains how we may use phone numbers, email addresses, and mailing addresses to communicate with individuals who have registered, may register, or have interacted with the Program as potential blood progenitor cell, marrow, or stem cell donors.

    Terms of Service

    Program Communications

    By providing your phone number, email address, mailing address, or other contact information to the Program, you understand that we may use that information to contact you about Program-related matters, including:

    • Confirming or updating your contact information;
    • Providing donor registry or Program updates;
    • Contacting you if you may be a potential match for a patient;
    • Facilitating next steps in the donor process;
    • Scheduling or confirming appointments;
    • Sending reminders, forms, instructions, educational materials, or donor-related information;
    • Responding to questions or requests you submit to us.

    We may contact you by phone call, voicemail, email, SMS/text message, MMS message, or postal mail.

    SMS/Text Message Terms

    By providing your mobile phone number and agreeing to receive text messages from the Program, you agree that we may send you SMS or MMS messages related to your participation in the Program and the donor process.

    Messages may include:

    • Donor match notifications;
    • Requests to confirm or update contact information;
    • Appointment reminders;
    • Donor education;
    • Links to forms or Program resources;
    • Other Program-related communications.

    Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply.

    You may manage SMS/text messages as follows:

    • Reply STOP to opt out of SMS/text messages.
    • After you reply STOP, we may send a confirmation message that you have been unsubscribed.
    • You will no longer receive SMS or MMS messages from us unless you opt back in.
    • Reply START to opt back in, if available.
    • Reply HELP for assistance.
    • You may also call us at 301-998-8900 for help.

    Opting out of SMS/text messages does not withdraw you from the Program. If you opt out of SMS/text messages, we may still contact you through other methods, such as phone, email, or postal mail, as permitted by your consent and applicable law.

    No Emergency Communications

    SMS/text messages, email, and website communications should not be used for emergencies or urgent medical concerns. If you have a medical emergency, call 911 or seek immediate medical attention.

    Website and Link Usage

    Links sent by the Program may direct you to Program websites, donor education materials, forms, scheduling tools, or other trusted resources. You agree not to misuse our websites, systems, forms, or links.

    Changes to These Terms

    We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.

    Information We Collect

    We may collect contact information that you provide to us, including:

    SMS/Text Message Privacy

    We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile phone number or SMS/text message consent information with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.

    SMS/text message opt-in data and consent will not be shared with third parties, except with service providers who help us deliver text messages and only as necessary to provide those messaging services.

    How We Share Information

    We may share information only as needed for Program-related purposes and as permitted by your consent and applicable law. This may include sharing information with:

    • The National Marrow Donor Program;
    • Authorized registry partners, including transplant centers and collection centers.

    We do not sell your personal information.

    Your decision to opt out of a specific communication method may limit our ability to contact you quickly if you are identified as a potential match for a patient.

    Withdrawal from the Program

    You may have the right to withdraw from participation in the Program, as described in the applicable donor consent materials. Opting out of SMS/text messages, email, phone calls, or postal mail does not automatically withdraw you from the Program.

    To withdraw from the Program or request a change to your donor status, please call us at 301-998-8900 or follow the applicable Program process.

    Data Security

    We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Access to donor information is limited to authorized individuals who need the information to perform Program-related responsibilities.

    No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

    Data Retention

    We retain information for as long as necessary to:

    • Support Program operations;
    • Maintain donor records;
    • Comply with legal or contractual obligations;
    • Resolve disputes;
    • Honor communication preferences;
    • Fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
